Tann
Lyjin (English):
My mom was born in
1962, in Sihanoukville, Cambodia. She has four brothers and she is the third
child in the family. Her father was a welder and her mother was a housewife. My
mom’s parents died when she was young and then she moved to live with her aunt
in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. My mom went to primary school when she was 6. She
attended secondary school, and then she stopped learning because of the war in
1975. She learned Chinese for one year and she learned tailoring after the
war. She has been married since 1997 and she has lived in Sihanoukville since
1997. She has two daughters. She had a small business at home before, but
nowadays, she is a housewife.
Song Vouchkeang
(Chinese):
My mom’s name is Seng
Theara. She’s 45 years old now. She was born in Kandal province. She is a
teacher. My mom has been a teacher since 1988. When she was young, she was a
good child; she always listened to her parents’ advice. After returning from
school, she always helped her mom to do housework, and looked after her
siblings. She didn’t like to go outside or hang out with her friends. After she
got married to my dad and gave birth to both my brother and me, we moved from
Kandol province to Sihanoukville province. Nowadays, she teaches at Sakura
Primary School at Sihanoukville. She
teaches from 7am to 11am. After her class, she teaches part-time at students' houses. She is very busy at work but she still does the housework. My Dad helps
her to cook sometimes. I love both of them so much. My mom is the strongest
lady in my eyes.

Brenda:
On 25
December, we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, who was born in Bethlehem
between 6 B.C. and 4 B.C. Jesus was a wise child who knew the word of God well.
He worked as a carpenter until he was thirty years old. Then, he began going
from place to place, telling people about the kingdom of God. Jesus had 12
disciples who learned closely from him. Jesus’ preaching and healing ministry
was so powerful that he gathered large audiences. This made many Jewish
religious leaders jealous, especially when Jesus implied he was the son of God,
the Messiah-saviour for whom the Jews had been waiting. These Jewish leaders
made false accusations against Jesus and got the Roman authorities to nail
Jesus to a cross. In this way, Jesus died when he was only 33. This seems like
a sad life, until you know why Jesus was born.
Jesus
was not a mere human being. He was indeed the son of God, sent to this earth to
save us from our sins. You see, when God created us, he wanted to enjoy a close
relationship with us. Unfortunately we chose to ignore God and do things our
own way. (Imagine how hurt our parents would be if we refuse to listen to them,
to spend time with them, even to acknowledge them as our parents.) Our wrong
deeds and thoughts made it impossible for us to return to our perfect creator.
But God still loved us, so he sent his son Jesus to take our place, to be
punished for our sins. Hence, Jesus’ death (we commemorate this as Good Friday)
was the fulfillment of God’s salvation plan. Now that Jesus has died for our
sins, we are free to return to God! Because Jesus was divine, he rose from the
dead three days after his crucifixion. (This important event is now celebrated
as Easter.) Because Jesus has defeated death, believers can look forward to
eternal life with God even after our physical death. Jesus is alive and praying
for believers to remain faithful to God!
After reading this biography, you would know that Jesus is a precious gift from God.
To
receive this gift, we can pray:
Dear
Jesus,
Thank
you for dying on the cross for me. Thank you for rising from the dead to give
me eternal life. Please forgive my sins. Please come into my heart to make me a
good person pleasing to God. I want to trust and follow you as my Lord and
Savior.
In
Jesus’ name, Amen.

John 3: 16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
